Continuing development and education for all

KMUTT Credential system is designed based on a belief that anyone has a unique set of capabilities attained through work and life experiences in any forms of learning. With an intention to provide a system that formally recognises the variety of competencies of a person, each micro-credential is designed to measure a competency or a demonstration of mastery of such skill in a robust, practical and scalable way.

In response to need of up-skilling Thailand workforce toward Thailand 4.0, we also offer competency-based credentialing learning that is practical, job-embedded, and specific to the targeted professional development in each industry.

The potential benefits of Micro-Credentials can be recognised through the ecosystem of Micro-credentials including earners, issuers, and recognisers [1]. With careful planning, stakeholder collaborations, and the common recognitions of competency based learning, Micro-Credential system can provide great benefits for continuing professional development and learning for all.

Show us what you can. Move on when ready.

Micro-Credentials are competency-based digital certifications indicating demonstrated competency/mastery in a specific skill or set of skills. KMUTT Micro-Credentials are designed to endorse job-specific performance demonstrations through the means of evidencing 'competency' attained in both formal and informal forms of learning.

To cater for the need of learners / earners in all ages in continuing professional development, Micro-credentials are intentionally designed to be small, performance based and job-embedded in the sense that it can be more relevant to job, less intimidating and less time consuming for earners. Most importantly, being small doesn’t mean that it should be easy or less rigorous compared to traditional development methods. Micro-credentials are named due to it’s highly specific content and competency development they target [1].

  • earned by the submission of a variety of artifacts ... Competency-based tasks
  • practical and job-embedded
  • demonstration of new or existing expertise through evidencing
  • available on demand and flexible on sourcing learning
  • designed to be small enough, manageable for both full-time learners and full-time professionals
  • highly specific and more rigorous than traditional processional development

are not...

  • learning by absorbing information
  • seat-time based, one size fits all learning
  • traditional online courses
  • content-focused
  • limited to one specific learning mode
  • small learning that is lack of rigors

Micro-credentials can be grouped or ‘stacked’ together to form a larger and more recognisable competency. Earners can choose to begin with a single Micro-Credential or a stack of Micro-credentials in forms of a small or big stack.

Non degree

Single competency development, small enough to provide design flexibility, big enough to be meaningful for jobs. (A Micro-credential can be viewed as part of a stack or a nano-degree)

Non degree

Small stack

A small set of Micro-credentials bundled together to demonstrate mastery of a specific performance or a combinations of such skills are required for a complex task. (e.g. IOS app development)

Non degree

Big stack

At KMUTT, a big stack is a larger set of Micro-credentials offering to demonstrate mastery of a specific performance required as part of a degree. Usually, a big stack is aligned with a program learning outcome or a sub-program learning outcome. (e.g. Instrument calibration for petroleum processing)

How it works

To earn a Micro-credential, an earner needs to identify a competency he/she wants to develop, submit the required evidence demonstrating the mastery of the targeted competency through our online platform, and receive the digital badge once the evidence has been approved. Each Micro-credential requires performance-based evidence such as a work sample, or text, audio or video of the earner demonstrating the competency in action.

The digital badge received can be shared as a part of the earner’s portfolio, used as an endorsement for the attained competency by employers, or can be applied to standards-based competencies associated with professional practice.  KMUTT Micro-credentials can also be recognised as credits toward KMUTT degrees.

Choose from the available Micro-credentials or contact us if you need us to guide or inspire you any skills you could get recognised. KMUTT is ranged as number 1 university in science and technology in Thailand and the best engineering school for the past 3 years.

Anyone can earn micro-credentials in four easy steps:

Select a skill you have developed or would like to develop.

Collect the required evidence demonstrating your competence in the selected area.

Upload and submit your collected evidence.

Share your accomplishment once you have earned a micro-credential. You can download a shareable digital badge or share directly via social media or email.

KMUTT is collaborating with Digital Promise to setup Thailand Micro-credential framework and is working with leading companies to design micro-credentials specific to the demands of our country. To contribute to the exciting Micro-credential movement, join us as recognisers, issuers, or as designers on this meaningful journey today!

Earners = ผู้ขอรับการรับรองความสามารถ
Recognizer or Partner = องค์กรหรือหน่วยงานที่ให้คุณค่าและการยอมรับความสามารถที่ได้รับการรับรอง
Designer = บุคคล / กลุ่มคน ที่เป็นผู้ออกแบบการรับรองความสามารถ
